What is the IEA and the NEA?The (IEA) Illinois Education Association is an association of more than 135,000 members. The association is composed of Illinois elementary and secondary teachers, higher education faculty and staff, educational support professionals, retired educators and college students preparing to become teachers. The IEA was founded in 1853 to serve the interest of public education in Illinois. The IEA became an affiliate of the (NEA) National Education Association in 1857, an organization currently totaling 3.2 million teachers and school employees working to make our good public schools even better for all students.
How do I become a member of the Association?We are excited that you are interested in joining our team!! Be sure to fill out the New Member Enrollment form. Alternatively, you can print the Enrollment form and submit it to the Association Secretary for processing. We are here to help with any questions you may have.

Am I eligible to be a member of the Association?Our members support in different areas of Stevenson. Check out the list below to see if you are Eligible to become a member. Eligible All 12 month and 10 month Support staff employees in non-faculty positions. Part-time employees in support staff positions Non-eligible Business Office staff All supervisory/managerial (N-Staff) Human Resource Office staff P.R.E.P. Employees P.A.C. Swim Employees The S.E.L. Coordinator Confidential employees Short-term employees as defined by Section 2 of the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Act. Are there any fees or dues that go with joining?Full time employees pay $23/paycheck and part time employees pay a prorated amount.
How many staff are a part of the union?There are over 100 staff members who are part of the Association.
